If you haven’t played Arkham City yet you have my sincerest sympathies. I really don’t know how else to put it. This game, like its predecessor, is an absolute masterpiece. Very few games ever deserve such praise much less their sequels but Arkham City is one of those rarest of exceptions. In fact the only negative aspect of the game is that it’s over much too quickly, and when you do reach that final epic climax…well let me put it this way: Arkham City is like The Empire Strikes Back. It’s beautiful and epic and in many ways far superior than the original but the ending leaves you with a cold empty feeling inside. Oh so cold…

But now apparently the game doesn’t have to be over. Today Rocksteady Studios and WB Games officially confirmed the release of a new DLC expansion: Harley Quinn’s Revenge. This means that those of us who have already finished the game can look forward to what has been described as an additional “two hours of gameplay” come late this May.

The confirmation comes as part of Rocksteady’s larger announcement of their release of Arkham City: Game of the Year Edition, which will include the full game, all five current DLC packs, as well as the new Harley Quinn’s Revenge DLC. The GOTY Edition will be released in North America on May 29th, but those of us who already own the full game can purchase only the new DLC, which will be available the same day (May 29th) on the PSN and the next day (May 30th) on Xbox Live.

This release is no surprise to fans of the game as Rocksteady have been teasing the release for some time, first allowing a list of new Achievements/Trophies to slip out, then by releasing the following teaser image on April 20th:

There aren’t many details available yet regarding this new DLC or how the new quest will play itself out, but rumors have it that players will get to play as both Batman and Robin and maybe even as Harley Quinn herself. Let’s hope you can also play as Nightwing and Catwoman!

We’ll keep you posted!
